Can you treat Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)?

Dear Dr. KEJIAN,

Several years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have all the typical symptoms of this disorder, like excessive body/facial hair growth, no periods (unless induced), extra weight, although the last time my blood test indicated that my blood sugar levels were normal. I am also quite careful regarding my diet.

My doctor does not offer any real solution for my problem except using birth control pills. My husband and I would like to have a child some day, but obviously my condition makes it highly unlikely.

I would like to know how much experience have you had with treating PCOS and how successful these treatments have been in terms of fertility, etc. ?

PCOS is one of the most difficult conditions in infertility due to the malfunction of the ovaries. It is also one of the most commonly infertility problems treated by acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in my clinic. The successful rate approximates 50 - 60%, depending on individual complex.
