Treating Poison from Poison Ivy

Hi Kejian,

Lia needs your help again. You helped her once after her first caesarian when her legs filled up with fluid to the size of an elephant. I was just finishing up my 3rd year at MIAHS 1998. You gave her a formula of raw herbs that she drank once and peed all night. When morning came her legs were back to normal! What was that formula????

Now she has extensive swelling again. This time it is her arms. Seven days ago we were rescued some animals in the forest. They had hid themselves in a large bed of poison ivy. I have been able to minimize the itching with herbal pastes and internal formulas for wind and wind damp heat but the swelling has gotten away from me. Her arms starting just below the underarm going to the beginning of her fingers almost have no shape. They are just one round tube. She still has weepy large patches on both arms. The left arm, which is more swollen, the major patch is just above the inside of her elbow.

So what can I do? Also cold you tell me how you would have treated this case from the beginning?

Thank you so much!

John

Hi John,

The treatment strategy includes clear heat, relieve toxicity, and drain dampness.

formula: Xiao Feng San plus Che Qian Cao and Che Qiao Zi, 15g each.

External treatment: Apply green tea 6g, Huang Bai 10g, Che Qian Cao 10g, Shi Wei 10g, and Gan Cao 10g with 1/2 gal water and decoct for 30 minutes. Soak a cloth with the cooled decoction and apply it to the lesions. In addition, seven star needles around the lesions could relieve some toxicity.

Good luck and hope Lia can recover soon.

Kejian
